Gail Jayson began her journey as an artist 8 years ago prior to retiring after 42 years as a special educator. She loves creating funky art that puts a smile on those who view her work. Gail has a serious side too and it is reflected in her Scratchboard Artwork.
Scratchboard Art is a way of creating an image by starting with a black surface and scratching through it to reveal a white layer below. It is a direct engraving which means cutting or incising an image into a surface. When the image is complete, you can add color with ink or watercolor. She teaches class on this technique at Gilded Matilda’s.
